Hepburn and Brazzi

Katharine Hepburn, all shine and vigour
on the set of Summertime, Venice 1955,
resisting the advances of Rossano Brazzi,
handsomest man you will see, ever.

In the hotel Mocenigo I google the film
and am amused by the post declaring:
‘If a man like Brazzi looked at me like that
in Piazza San Marco I would manacle
myself to his shoes. Stupid fool.’

All that fierce beauty lying still.
I will start from the vaporetto scene,
she doesn’t know it yet, but in 15 minutes
– oh lucky girl – she will meet him.
