Our Lady of Clouds

Threesome

______

Our Lady of the Clouds, patroness of bored clerks

A glance, and my eyes catch

in the evening sky

those ever-transforming

cathedrals of candyfloss,

architectural marvels of moisture,

high-flyers, coloured in an infinite

palette of shades as the sun’s

tired light filters through,

caresses the curves

of the atmosphere, and I wonder

what it’d be like to share

the air with the unmoored

gargoyles in feather robes,

to chirp alongside them, in tune,

if at all possible, climb up

and down the ornate decks

of cumulonimbuses,

a beautifully flawed Quasimodo

of the clouds—until a shy cough

nets me in, clips my almost wings

and brings me back crashing

to this hellishly trivial job

I now regret I landed.

Threesome

If I had a clone

I would have him lie

on the other side of you

to get more for my money

than the edge of the bed

you leave me.
