Willow

I head to the park

and sit on a bench

under a shower of willows.

No one is around

save for a couple cooing

in the gloom.

I open the book

I’ve been dying to finish

and I’m taken into another world

of freezing landscapes.

The willows shiver above,

brushing my shoulder.

I look up from the page

and see the lovers have gone.

Perhaps I only imagined them.

I return to the book

but there are no words.

Only empty pages.
